About us

Creative Castings is Australia's largest and most innovative manufacturer of interior sculptures and figurines.

Our sculptures are either designed by our own in-house design team, or are manufactured under licence from original artists worldwide.

We have over 500 pieces in our range and we introduce approximately 80 new items every year.

Each Creative Castings sculpture is genuinely hand made in Adelaide, South Australia, using a unique five stage manufacturing process:

* Creating an Original Sculpture, usually from clay. This can be done by one of our creative teams or outsourced to sculptures in Australia or overseas. Inspiration is a great challenge and we travel the world in search of new ideas.

* Manufacturing the mold itself. All our molds are made in our Adelaide factory and this is one of the secrets to our superior quality. Painstakingly building up the thickness of the rubber mold, layer by layer, and taking great effort to ensure that all the detail in the original sculpture is captured in the mold. We then build a fibreglass casing around the mold to ensure that the mold keeps perfect shape.

* Casting the product. Using a carefully blended mixture of Gypsum (a soft stone which is finely crushed and heated to achieve certain properties) we pour or sometimes hand-lay the liquid Gypsum into the mold. Once the Gypsum has hardened, we release the casting from the mold, inspect it, clean up the edges and finely sand it. Each and every product is then placed into a temperature controlled drying room and electronically tested for moisture content throughout the drying process.

* Hand Painting. Our artisans spend several years building their skill base to allow them to put life into our products. Each and every sculpture is hand painted and, whilst the finished products can be said to be replicas, every item is truly unique. By using a combination of fine bristled paint brushes and air brushes, special paints and patinas, each piece gradually comes to life. The paints we use are durable and can be wiped over with a soft, damp cloth for cleaning.

* Injected Foam Packaging. Using a high technology, two-part liquid foam packaging process, we have virtually eliminated goods being damaged in transit. Spraying the foam into the carton, we then wrap the sculpture in plastic and push the sculpture into the expanding foam. This forms a protective cell around the sculpture and the carton can then be used to re-deliver the sculpture to the consumer.
